I just installed the download update 8.1 on Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS with no issues whatsoever. Runs like a champ.

    SwordSearcher on Linux

Linux does not support wingdings fonts, only webdings. I think not much outside of MS supports wingdings.

    SwordSearcher 8 Released

I installed it on Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS with wine-1.6.2 without any issues and everything works. Well everything I use including audio works.

    SwordSearcher on Linux

I received the Scourby CD, copied over the mp3 files and was able to play them in SwordSearcher. I noticed that if I just clicked on the speaker next to the verse nothing happened. If I held down the Shift key and click it plays the verse. If I click on Play at the bottom of the screen it starts...

    SwordSearcher on Linux

I needed some more Chemex filters so I ordered the Scourby CD and got the free shipping from Amazon. It should arrive within a week to six months and I'll check it out. The widgets look ok to me. I have never used SwordSearcher in Windows so I really don't know if they are different. If you have...

    SwordSearcher on Linux

Ok I am quite confident these instructions will work for anyone running either a 32 or 62 bit version of Linux. Well I'm at least trying to sound confident. If you are running a 32 bit version of Linux you can skip step 3. WARNING: If you do run step 3 and have any previous Windows programs...

    SwordSearcher on Linux

I have to agree with Brandon it is a bit tricky to get SS installed. I just installed it on a 64 Bit version of Ubuntu and I have no idea what I did to finally get it working. I did only use wine and winetricks though. It took about an hour or so, but it can be done.

    SwordSearcher on Linux

Some kind of error handling the 32 bit windows code. I have no idea what is the problem, I would think a resource issue. I have a netbook I use to load crazy stuff on to just to see if I can and I was able to load ie7 on that with winetricks. I was think of trying to load SS on an android device...

    SwordSearcher on Linux

I installed Ubuntu version 12.10 and then ran the Ubuntu updates. Followed the steps above and the installed full version of SS v. 6.2 without any issues. At step 3 I could not run winetricks from the search prompt so I did a Ctrl + Alt + t and ran it from the command line, worked fine. After...

    SwordSearcher on Linux

Hello Peter, I'm sure you have this issue resolved, but I figured this may help some others. I'm only running SS 6.0.1, but assume it will work for newer versions. I just ordered the latest version and once I have it I will install it on a clean version of Ubuntu since that is what...

    SwordSearcher on Linux

I was able to install SwordSearcher 6 without any issues on PCLinux OS 2010 running wine-1.1.44 and the instructions for wine tricks and it runs without any issues. I also see that MyNotes is also now working which is nice.

    SwordSearcher on Linux

Re: SwordSearcher 5 on Linux Thanks for the fix. I tried the install and just went back to version 5. I wasn't planning to look at it for a month or so. I appreciate you took the time to figure it out, thanks again.

    SwordSearcher 6 Released

As a devoted Linux man, I'm not quick to pay for software, but I viewed the slick video of the new features and you got me, hook, line and sinker. I was drooling thinking of the electronic bible beatings I could be given the heathen trash with this is my possession. I think I better head down...

    Ubuntu Linux

Hey Bill I have been using Linux since 96 and I have been thinking about getting a Mac. I was standing in the Apple store just staring at one but I just couldn't make the leap and spend the money. For the record I have never been thinking about getting a Windows machine.

    iPhone/iTouch Release

Guess what I got for my birthday? Yes a new iPod touch, good guess. So when can we expect a light version of SwordSearcher for the iPhone/iTouch? Nothing fancy, just the KJV, J,F&B's commentary, a search feature and the ability to bookmark and add notes.

Who wrote this: "...Lord, let me weep for naught but sin..."

Benjamin Beddome wrote it. I would think it would be associated with John20:13.

    SwordSearcher 5.3.1 icons and Linux

Don't give up hope just yet, v1.0 of wine was just released on the 17th. I'm running wine-1.0-rc2 and it is working somewhat as seen in the screen shot I posted previously. I'm sure the next release of Crossover will have a version of wine with the fix in it. If I remember correctly, rc1 was not...

    SwordSearcher 5.3.1 icons and Linux

Well the icons went from solid black to solid white to a nice light blue. At least with the blue you can make out the icons. It looks like the patch has been added to version 1 rc2 of wine, so we will see what it looks like when the final version comes out. Here is a link to a screen shot with...
