Default Question for all geeks

I'm thinkingof replacing my other PC, but not sure if I should get another desktop, a laptop, a notebook, or a netbook.

I have most of my experience with a desk top, very limited experience with a laptop, and no experience with the rest.

Can any one share some insights into comparison & contrasts, and which might be better for all round use?

Thanks

This is what I've been using for a couple of years now. http://www.apple.com/ca/macmini/
It's like the EverReady bunny, it just keeps going, and going and going.

No muss, no fuss, no viruses, to SPanything, IT JUST WORKS.

Apples are bullet proof.............higher end price wise.

Usage, space, cost and ability to be upgraded should be considered. All of them have their strengths as far as I'm concerned.

At least with "most" desktops you have the ability to upgrade and extend the life. Just make sure you get plenty of memory (RAM) and plenty of video. You can usually get a good deal buying a '"refurbished" computer and it comes with the manufacturers warranty, albeit not as long.

One thing I did do was get a big monitor specifically for Sword Searcher which really spreads everything out nice. My laptop makes everything a little too tight. I also split the screen running "SS" simultaneously with "Word" which is pretty cool when doing my outlines.

I'm kind of a guber geek....................I use a separate small desktop loaded with nothing but just my Bible Stuff with a big 'ol external hard drive (back-up). SS is always up...........

I've heard good things about apples lately too. I've never used one though. Are there many compatibility issues?

Quite a few. Most software will not work on a Mac, as most software is designed for Windows. There are options for trying to use Windows software on a Mac, but it doesn't always work.

SwordSearcher sometimes works for people on a Mac using Crossover or WINE, but it is not officially supported.

Sorry I didn't specify: I have not desire to go the mac / apple route.

I'm thinking only pc for desktop, laptop, notebook, or netbook.

I'd really like to know the main distinctions, and which might be best for an all around purchase (portability would be nice but not absolutely necessary).

Wanting to answer your question and be respective to Brandon and the site at the same time in trying to keep the topic Biblical check out this link so as not to take up so much bandwith. I hope it might answer your questions and help you figure out which way to go.

Everybody has a preference on what might work for them, yet at the same time will not for others due to lifestyle and intended use.
