    I heard this tune again today on the radio, I think it was the Brooks Brothers...? Anyway it has one of my favorite lines in there and I thought I would share:

    "Ask the blind man, he saw it all."

    Now that's pretty much says it all doesn't it? I love it.

    And I was thinking, also, it would be nice if some of you contribute to this thread, a line or two of your favorite hymns or songs, something that stirs you up, might be a blessing for some of us to hear it, too.

    THANKS!

    Sometimes I have to sing these to be lifted up - breaks whatever ails me (I can't sing the whole song - just these words over and over):

    What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

    And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own...

    Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so!
    Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong!

    And can it be that I should gain
    An interest in the Savior's blood?
    Died He for me, who caused His pain-
    For me, who Him to death pursued?
    Amazing love! How can it be,
    That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
    Amazing love! How can it be,
    That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
    .
    .
    .
    No condemnation now I dread;
    Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;
    Alive in Him, my living Head,
    And clothed in righteousness divine,
    Bold I approach th'eternal throne,
    And claim the crown, through Christ my own.
    Bold I approach th'eternal throne,
    And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

    beautiful hymnal song from Charles Wesley . . .

    Agree whole-heartedly, and the same as you, I hold on to that knowledge, that He loves me. He loves me, when I don't love me, He does. When I just know that others don't love or even like me, I know the King of the whole universe loves me. Boy do I hold on to that. That is a fight song, Marty, and thanks for bringing that to remembrance!

    Those ARE fighting words - there have been times when I was so low that I couldn't even sing them, so had to just say them over and over. Jesus' name is POWERFUL!

    Beautiful hymn, Ishaknatan.

    There are SOOOOOO many that I like that ministers!!! However, any time my pastor asks the congregation to give a favorite hymn I give this one
    1. All the way my Savior leads me,
      What have I to ask beside?
      Can I doubt His tender mercy,
      Who through life has been my Guide?
      Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
      Here by faith in Him to dwell!
      For I know, whate’er befall me,
      Jesus doeth all things well;
      For I know, whate’er befall me,
      Jesus doeth all things well.
    2. All the way my Savior leads me,
      Cheers each winding path I tread,
      Gives me grace for every trial,
      Feeds me with the living Bread.
      Though my weary steps may falter
      And my soul athirst may be,
      Gushing from the Rock before me,
      Lo! A spring of joy I see;
      Gushing from the Rock before me,
      Lo! A spring of joy I see.
    3. All the way my Savior leads me,
      Oh, the fullness of His love!
      Perfect rest to me is promised
      In my Father’s house above.
      When my spirit, clothed immortal,
      Wings its flight to realms of day
      This my song through endless ages:
      Jesus led me all the way;
      This my song through endless ages:
      Jesus led me all the way.
    Love all the others mentioned too!!

    ...and one of my favoritest chorus is

    Thou art worthy, Thou art worthy, Thou art worthy, O Lord.
    To receive glory, glory and honor, glory and honor and power.
    For Thou hast created, hast all things created,
    Thou hast created all things.
    And for Thy pleasure they are created;
    Thou art worthy, O Lord.

    Look at this story about the lady who wrote this song, same person who wrote Blessed Assurance. I did not know this at all:

    All The Way My Savior Leads Me" was written by one of the most prolific songwriters in history. Fanny Crosby wrote over 8,000 Christian hymns despite the handicapped she struggled with during her life. An inept doctor left Fanny without her eyesight at six weeks of age after a botched procedure. She said, " If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me." "All The Way My Savior Leads Me" is one of her songwriting masterpieces.
    This beloved hymn came to Fanny as a result of a prayer. Struggling financially, she desperately needed some money. As her usual custom, Fanny began to pray. A few minutes later, a gentleman offered her five dollars, the exact amount she needed. Later recalling the incident, she said, "I have no way of accounting for this except to believe that God put it into the heart of this good man to bring the money." The poem she wrote afterward became "All The Way My Savior Leads Me." As both a songwriter and a woman of faith, Fanny Crosby serves as an example to all.
    When she died in 1915, Fanny Crosby had written hymns in a large variety of different pen names. On her tombstone lies a line from one of her many hymns "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine. Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine." "All The Way My Savior Leads Me" is one of the most beloved of her songwriting work.

    There is a River
    Jessie Rogers

    There is a river whose streams make glad the city of our God (repeat)

    (chorus)
    so I will rejoice
    I will rejoice
    and be glad

    There is a fountain full of grace and it flows from Emmanuel’s veins
    It came and it healed me
    It came and refreshed me
    It came and washed my sins away!

    When we've been there ten thousand years we've only begun

    First time back in church after a minor heart attack we came to that line and my first thought was, "You stupid doctors kept me from this." Of course not in a hurry to get ahead of the Lord's timing but the line was so very real for the first time.

    Words & Music: Charles A. Tindley, 1916. A fellow who was a constant worrier visited Tindley one day. After listening a while, Tindley replied:
    My advice to you is put all your troubles in a sack, take ’em to the Lord, and leave ’em there.

    If the world from you withhold of its silver and its gold, And you have to get along with meager fare,
    Just remember, in His Word, how He feeds the little bird; Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

    Refrain
    Leave it there, leave it there, Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
    If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out.
    Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

    If your body suffers pain and your health you can’t regain, And your soul is almost sinking in despair,
    Jesus knows the pain you feel, He can save and He can heal; Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

    Refrain

    When your enemies assail and your heart begins to fail, Don’t forget that God in Heaven answers prayer;
    He will make a way for you and will lead you safely through. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

    Refrain

    When your youthful days are gone and old age is stealing on, And your body bends beneath the weight of care;
    He will never leave you then, He’ll go with you to the end. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

    Refrain

    Joey + Rory sing this beautifully in their c.d. "Inspired."

    Worthy is the
    Lamb who was slain
    Holy, Holy is He

    Sing a new song
    to Him who sits on
    Heaven's mercy seat

    Holy, holy, holy
    is the Lord God Almighty
    Who was, and is, and is to come
    With all creation I sing
    praise to the King of kings
    You are my everything
    and I will adore You

    Clothed in rainbows
    of living color
    Flashes of lighting
    rolls of thunder

    Blessing and honor strength and
    glory and power be
    To You the only wise King

    Holy, holy, holy
    is the Lord God Almighty
    Who was, and is, and is to come
    With all creation I sing
    praise to the King of kings
    You are my everything
    and I will adore You

    Filled with wonder
    awestruck wonder
    At the mention of Your name
    Jesus Your name is power,
    breath and living water
    Such a marvelous mystery

    Holy, holy, holy
    is the Lord God Almighty
    Who was, and is, and is to come
    With all creation I sing
    praise to the King of kings
    You are my everything
    and I will adore You...
