Using book modules from version 7.2 in version 5.3

I am a Linux user. I was using Swordsearcher through version 7.1 through Wine. The instructions for doing so as found in this forum. I recently upgraded my laptop to Ubuntu 15.4. My recent purchase of 7.2 will not install via Wine. If I go way back to SS 5.3, it installs fine.

My question is this: Can I simply import book modules from my 7.2 CD into 5.3?

No. While new versions of SwordSearcher can always use older modules, the reverse is not usually true. None of the modules added to the library since 6.0 would work in a 5.x version.

BTW, the trick to getting SS to work in WINE seems to be ensuring that a recent version of Internet Explorer is also running. I can only go by what others have told me since I do not use it, but that is where the problem lies.

However, my suggestion is to use a virtual machine rather than try to rely on an open source implementation of the Windows API. Any of the VM programs should work, the only issue is you need to buy a license of Windows to run it in the VM.
