Guide to Running SwordSearcher on Linux Operating Systems (Updated June 2024)

I'm guessing it's the outdated MSHTML component.

    Build Commentary

That shows that you edited it after building it, so the forge notification was overwritten. Forge leaves a note there when it builds a module unless you provide an AUTHORDETAIL. In SwordSearcher, any time you edit a module, the info screen is replaced with a last-edited notice.

    Build Commentary

If you are having a problem, you'll have to describe what is not working correctly. Are you talking about the module info screen? If you don't provide an AUTHORDETAIL entry, you'll get the basic informational one that says Forge built it.

    Build Commentary

That's informational for humans. Forge ignores it.

    Build Commentary

Just to be clear, everything is working as designed. The original file you used had no content so showed no content. The $$ Ge 1:1 with no content is deliberately ignored by Forge when compiling the module. That's on purpose. So, wsbones's workaround is what I would have suggested next (GMTA)...

    Build Commentary

Forge doesn't write empty entries to a compiled module. I can't imagine how a commentary module that says it has content on an entry that is actually blank would be helpful. If you describe your use-case maybe I can suggest a different approach.

Guide to Running SwordSearcher on Linux Operating Systems (Updated June 2024)

SwordSearcher 10 uses Segoe UI Symbol and Segoe UI Emoji for those. Try to confirm you have those fonts available in the wine profile. Segoe UI Symbol (seguisym.ttf) Segoe UI Emoji (seguiemj.ttf)

No, I don't, sorry. I have to spend some time looking into this when I get a chance.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible - error?

Probably not a good fit for the forum -- there are millions of lines of text in the software. If you email reports like that to me, they'll get logged.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible - error?

Sure, that looks like an OCR error to me. Do you have a question about this?

    Default bible selection

SwordSearcher will restore with the same tabs selected (active) as when you closed the program, except for the case when you open a tab that is not on your visible tabs list from the Tabs menu. Go to the Tabs menu and choose "Select Which Tabs to Show." Make sure the tabs you want to have...

    Book window

Which book entry in a dictionary is the one you would expect to open for Jonah 1:17? Keep in mind, you're talking about potentially dozens of relevant entries. Which one would you want opened when you click the tab? How could it know? You just need to use the tools designed for verse-based...

    Book window

The tab corresponding color is for books that have an entry of the same title, such as dictionaries that all have an entry titled "Aaron." It's not verse-based. For both books and commentaries, that color is a signal that says "I have something on this, too."

    Memory usage

Why? Why have RAM that doesn't get used? Why force the application to re-initialized and re-calculate everything that was loaded into RAM every time you switch back to it? The OS knows when it needs to reclaim the memory for other apps; I just let it do its job. The Natural Language Search...

    Memory usage

500MB really isn't much on a modern system. I've got apps sitting idle right now eating 1.5GB. SwordSearcher loads and keeps a fair amount of data "warm" in memory as you use it (Bible text, indexes, modules you've opened, search caches, etc.) so it can respond instantly instead of hitting the...

Included John Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible [Gill] [Deluxe]

I already emailed you a replacement, to both of your email addresses, as you requested earlier. You've already upgraded. Your logs show that you have put multiple copies of your modules: One into your program files location, which you should not do, and so the second copies in your user...
