Just made the purchase to update to the latest version. How can I be sure it made the upgrade because I had an old version. Any way to see which version is being used?

I got a new laptop and cannot find the disk for a couple of modules that are on my old computer. Is there a way that I can move them from the old computer to the new one without the disk? The two modules I want to move: Way of Life Encyclopedia Things Hard to be Understood.
