The search of notes (f4) does not find symbols. I wonder if the # could be used as a tag mechanism. I have be using cat: as a tag but the # might be more useful and consistent. Would that conflict with anything is SwordSearcher?

It wouldn't conflict with anything. Non-word-characters (stuff that's not letters or numbers or hyphens etc) are ignored by the search engine.

I will add it to the list and consider it. There are lots of possible side-effects for changing the way the search engine works like that, it is unfortunately not a simple change.
