Does {moduleassets} variable only work with <img>. I tried it with some pdf files using <a href...> but the link doesn't seem to work.

I was going to make a book module of the pdf files on Dr. Thomas Constable's web site here. They seem pretty useful.

Yes, at this time the {moduleassets} variable is only resolved for image source elements.
