Would like feedback. My Missionary friend is in Israel, (yes now, 9 miles from Jerusalem, he hears the bombs daily) and we are editing a book module. How do you handle the verse abbreviations and plural when outlining? Maybe just use the obvious, John 3:16,17 would be simple and useful inside SwordSearcher because of the links.
v. 16
vs. 16
verse 16
vs. 16-17
Online it actually shows, v. for one verse, and vv. for plural verses.
v. 1
vv. 1-5
My sample:
FAST – MOSES’ TWO 40 DAY & NIGHT FASTS
JAN 2026 KIRJAT-Jearim, ISRAEL
Moses fasted two times for 40 days & nights. They were both back-to-back, one after the other. Moses goes up Mount Sinai, also Horeb or The Mount of God to receive the Law of Jehovah.
Exodus 24:12-18 The First Fast.
(v. 12)
Jehovah called Moses to come to Himself on the mount. Moses was to receive the two tables of stone and the Law and commandments.
(v. 13) Moses & Joshua go up upon the Mount of God.
(v. 14) Moses speaks to the elders asking them to wait for them. Aaron and Hur are left in charge.
(v. 15) As they went up a cloud covered the mountain. This was a sign of God’s presence and His approval.
(v. 16) The glory of Jehovah dwelt upon the mount Sinai. And the cloud covered the mount for 6 days. I assume immediately Moses started fasting at the begging of the 6 days.. We are not told that Moses was commanded to fast for the 40 days. But it was the natural thing to do. It was the same for Jesus’ 40 day and night fast. On the 7th day out of the cloud Jehovah called Moses . I believe the 6 days of waiting for Jehovah’s call are significant and important. I believe the 6 days were needful for Moses to be ready to be with and talk to Jehovah. I assume Moses was fasting for these 6 days.
(v. 17) The people saw the devouring fire of the glory of God upon the top of the mount. Jehovah wanted the people to see a part of this meeting.
(v. 18) Moses went into the cloud I assume which led him to the top of the mount. He was there on the mount 40 days and nights.
Exodus 31:18 The First Fast.

How do you handle the following bold underline is hopefully better for clarity?

Exodus 32 The First Fast.
Verses 1-6 the people lost faith, patience and understanding. They somehow ignored the miraculous escape from Egypt and the signs on mount Sinai. In Exodus 24:14 Moses instructed the elders to wait for his return. They thought of something better than Jehovah and Moses. They fell into idolatry and Aaron made from the gold ear rings of the people a golden molten calf. Aaron participated and led in the idolatry. They claimed these were the gods that brought them out of Egypt. Vs 4- 8 In verses 7-10 Jehovah spoke to Moses. Jehovah said these people are stiffnecked people. V 9 Jehovah wanted to destroy these people and make for Moses a great nation. Jehovah asked permission from Moses to destroy Moses’ people. v10

Verses 11-14. Here is the advocacy of Moses for the people. Jehovah listened to the pleading advocacy of Moses and He repented. He would not destroy the people. Moses reminded Jehovah of His promises to these people who He is about to destroy. Moses pleaded a covenant (v 13) and Jesus Christ pleads a sacrifice. 1 John 2:1-2

V 15-16 Moses went down the mountain having been informed of Jehovah of the people’s idolatry. Moses had the two tables of stone graven by Jehovah.

Here is what I may just use, though it is more text. SwordSearcher is my "exclusive" Bible Study, Sermon Preparation, and Research Tool, why not have the (built in ) links SwordSearcher offers work for me? Whether I am in MS Word or SwordSearcher editor it is a great tool. May have answered my own question. Anyone...

Exodus 24:12-18 The First Fast.

(Ex 24:12)
(Ex 24:13-14)

I hope I understand your question(s) well enough to answer you on some of it.

In edit mode, you have (if it is like mine) letters such as B, I, U at the top. You can use those. If you do not see those, maybe we can get together using TeamViewer and I can help you out on this. I will be glad to try.
