Strong's links in versions before version 6

Has anyone else noticed that Strong's links made in modules in previous versions of SwordSearcher no longer work?

In the present work I am doing, editing an older module I created, I am having to go back and re-link them again. I like it though because now the link shows not only the Strong's number, etc. but also shows the Greek or Hebrew words.

Thanks,
Regie

The method for including Strong's links (and other kinds of links) in user modules was "formalized" and officially supported in version 5.3. There were "unofficial" ways to do it before that -- I am curious what method your older modules are using.

Here is an entry that I found which gave me the result of "Entry 4309, proorizo" not found in book "SGreek."

A reasonable, not to mention consistent with God’s holy character, case can be made that throughout the events of Passion Week the Jewish leaders would have done far more to our Lord than they did had it not been for the restraining providence of God. The Greek word- SGreek: 4309. proorizo - (I don't know how I did it, but I figure I went to 4309 in SGreek and told it to copy it to the module where I wanted it.

I certainly meant no complaint against you or SwordSearcher - it's the best bible software of all IMO.

Oh, no offense taken at all.

I see what happened -- at version 6, the Strong's lexicon modules were re-done to include the Greek or Hebrew text right in the entry titles, so links to those entry titles from older versions would no longer work. My original suggestion that it was due to the change in version 5.3 was not correct.

There is a special Strong's link method described in the URL protocol section of the help file:

http://www.swordsearcher.com/helpfiles/current/swordsearcher_url_protocol.html

e.g., swordsearcher://strongs/g100

That method can be used in code-edit mode and is "future-proof." But there shouldn't be any changes to the Strong's lexicon entry titles again, so it's safe just to continue using the "insert link to book entry" for those if you want.

Thanks much. I view the change as good and until I can change the other modules I have made, it is pretty simple to find the Strongs link by just opening the Strongs Greek or Hebrew and just type in the number - it is easy to highlight what you want replaced and use the send book or commentary link to the editor - zap - job done. :)

Thanks much Brandon, Marty and all the others on this group who are so friendly and helpful. You all act like a bunch of Christians. :) But, then that's what we're supposed to act like and be. Right? May God bless the friendly people in the world - there are too many of the other kinds we run into - even some in the world who call themselves Christian but sure don't act like they are.
