Teach us

I heard this on the radio yesterday, the disciples while on earth, it is recorded that they asked the Lord many questions, which who would not, right?

But they asked Christ to teach them one thing. That thing should be a very important thing. Prayer so I found two places in scripture that reference “teach us

Luke 11:1

And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

We could learn a lot from them. Not that we need the “Our Father” prayer, but it shows how important it is to prayer.

While I was looking it up I came across this one, which to me was a warning.

John 9:34

They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

These guys thought that had nothing to learn and when you get to the point of you think you know it all, you are deceiving yourself. I always wondered if these were the same guys that Christ was talking to in the temple when he was young.

Luke 2:46-52

46And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. 48And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. 49And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? 50And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. 51And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. 52And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Take the warning. Don’t think you are too smart, there is always something else to learn.
