1. How do you turn off smiles so the editor doesn't convert punctuation automatically (i.e. a right paren followed by a . that you don't want to be a smile? ) Bible verse references that are pasted sometimes have that punctuation.

2. Could the edit post feature be made available for a longer period of time, say 15 or 20 minutes?

When you are making a reply, scroll down to "Additional Options" and check the "Disable smilies" option.
