If I do this when I'm in Design Mode in a user commentary module, it comes out like this

swordsearcher://cmty+Barnes/Pr19.27

but that's the way it should be for the Code Mode, isn't it?

I would expect a hot link to be pasted in when I do Ctrl-V when I'm in the Design Mode.

Probably I need to change my expectations, right?

Copying a shortcut URL does literally what it says -- it just puts the URL on the clipboard. It won't affect how it's pasted.

The pop-up menu has an option for adding a link to the entry in the currently open editor (if applicable) -- that's what you want to use.

Yes, that's what I usually use. Just sometimes I'd like to keep it on the clipboard since I'm looking around for where I wanted to click it in.
