Words of Christ

Bard - the Google AI application reports this. I don't have much confidence in the results being exact.

For the fun of it I did the following using SwordSearcher. It's a several step process. Here's the result.

Words of Christ in KJV

This would have been easy but the search stats truncate the results like this

and if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.1
1793 strings not shown.

So the books had to be broken into sections to avoid having missing strings.
Once the string table for each section had no missing strings, the text portion of the table could be pasted into Word to get a word count. Then the counts could be added up.

I learned a few things anyway.

Here is a revised count of the words of Jesus after removing all the non-red letter words in each line such as "And he said unto them", etc. and also the verse references.

41,875 red letter words in the SwordSearcher KJV.

This was a useful exercise since I actually read all the words of Jesus.

Here is the final text file in zip format.

Thank you, Bill! There is something unique about reading collective topics from the Bible - it is eye-opening! :)

I hate to admit it, but I found a mistake.
And, it's in the very first verse in the list:
"Then he suffered him" should not be there. It's not red letters and not Jesus' words.
The word count should therefore be 41,871.

If you find any others let me know.

This is quite interesting indeed and thanks Bill... I know you had fun doing this :)
