Atlas

Excellent resource, Bill. Thank you.

Question. Have you included all of the maps (including the 6 new ones) in the self extracting zip file on your web site?

I am going to post this on the modules web site and need to know if i should include all 3 files.

I am making a few more changes and then I will update both the book and map archive and post a note here.

All the maps are now included in atlas.zip and the atlas.ss5book has also been updated.

I added some new features in the first five maps - animation and hotspots. The hotspots are linked to names in ISBE. The map, _Jesus Footsteps, is animated (although not complete for his whole ministry yet) and so is the _OT Overview. You should maximize the window for best results.

Let me know what you think of these.

The hotspots are pretty easy to create with a $10 software package called MapEdit from Boutell s/w. The animated gifs were created with Animation Shop - part of Paint Shop Pro.

If you have Swordsearcher 5 installed on a different drive, you may have to export the book and change the links and then recompile it with Forge.

Don't download ssbook yet. I just realized I was working with the beta version of ss5 and I have to change some links to be compatible with version 5.2. I'll post a note when I have fixed them and atlas.ss5book is ready. Sorry for the confusion.

OK to download the files in the post of 4:43 PM now.

I've tested the links on SS 5.2 and they work for me. When you hover over a name on the first map, the cursor changes to a "hand". Then you left click and it will open up a topic in ISBE (International Standard Bible Encyclopedia) if you have it installed. In a few cases I linked the name to Morrish Dictionary because there was no entry in ISBE. If you want to return to the map, use the green back arrow on the toolbar of the book window.

Sorry for the confusion.

Wow! This is really awesome. You do so much work. Where do you find the time? I'm really going to share this one around. Thanks.

This module is really cool. Thanks, Bill.

Bill,
Does the images have to be installed under C:\? My SS is installed under D:\. I have the tab but do not see any images through the tab but I did verify that they are in the folder and viewable.

God Bless and Thank You in Christ,
Eddie

Never mind I found a reply in this thread about the problem I am having with drive letters.

God Bless and Thank You in Christ,
Eddie

:-D
I got it working by following your instructions on getting the drive letter changed and using Forge and it works really great. Good learning experience for me.

God Bless and Thank You in Christ,
Eddie

I found Antioch and Ararat with the source starting with file:// or file.// or something to that extent and wanted you all to know so if you run across a map that shows no image then you may have to go back and change these to reference the correct SS installation and drive letter. My installation was D:\ but I was only replacing C:\ and not the file:// or file.// for the src= function within the quotes for long file names with spaces.

God Bless and Thank You in Christ,
Eddie

I'm sorry but I must be dense also. I have dowloaded both at least six time and cannot get it to run. I get the co-ordinates but no images. Once again I apologize but could you please help?

Your images MUST be in c:\program files\swordsearcher 5\images\atlas\. Check and see if they are there. You should also be able to view them with the SS built-in images viewer if they are in the right location.

Try editing the entry for Abelmizraim using the HTML editor option. You should see the following code as an example:

<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>
<img src="file:///c:/program%20files/swordsearcher%205/images/atlas/abelmizraim.jpg"/>
<br/>31.50.35 35.27.34 <br/>
</body>
</html>

Lastly, I am assuming your are running Swordsearcher 5.2. I have not tested the links with a previous version.

Pete,

I tested the links in SS 5.1 and they work there as well. Hope you are able to get the Atlas working.

Can't thank you enough for this module - I love using maps in Bible Study, and look how the maps link to the Topic and Verse Guide. WOW!

Thanks a bajillion, at least!

T.

Pete,

I created an installer which will put everything in the correct location. Try downloading and running this file. http://wsbones.googlepages.com/InstallAtlas5.exe

This version works with SS 5.1 and 5.2. I also updated the webpage (http://wsbones.googlepages.com/home) so anyone downloading Atlas now gets the installer instead of a zip file and a SSbook.

Thanks, Bill! I installed the Atlas on my little netbook, but didn't get the images - your installer fixed that for me - easy!

Marty, I think I have a later version of Atlas with more maps and links. The link on my google site (http://wsbones.googlepages.com/home) will redirect you to the link below for the Atlas for SS 5.3+. I think it hard codes the links to graphic files located in c:\program files (x86)\swordsearcher 5\images\atlas\
