First off, hello folks!

I havent been around for a while, BUT I use Sword Searcher all the time. What a blessing Brandon!

Whoa.. LOL, apparently not being around a while was an understatement, I just looked up and saw: "Welcome, Rev. You last visited: August 30th 2008"!!

Anyway, I know there are "chronological Bibles" out there, listing the Scriptures in the order they were given, I also appreciate Mr Ussher's dates very well also! What I was wondering, is there a way, either to add an option for the text of the scripture listed in chronological order, or a way to search the Scriptures chronologically?

Perhaps there is already a module in the module section I need to discover seeing as I havent been here for the past year :)

This may or may not be possible, I will leave that to you brethern more talented in such things. Just a thought I had while studying. :-D

Hello Rev.
I hope I can help.
Sword Searcher has 2 user Modules that you may want to consider.
1. Outline of the Bible in Chronological Order
2. Outline of the Bible in Book Order

I have enjoyed using them.
God bless.

To be more precise in my ask, where can I find a Sword Searcher .ssplan file that I could import under Devotional: Add a New Reading Plan to the Schedule...: Import Template From File... The goal is use Sword Searcher to read the Bible through in chronological order.

I believe I have all the "authorized" material for SS, and all the man made files that are out there, with a few exceptions. I don't believe there is an importable plan as you desire. I do wonder, though @Brandon Staggs if a plan could be created using the Chronological Order outline that exists? Or how might one go about that? That might be a challenge @wsbones would undertake, I don't think I am smart enough to do it. But I am curious about it. Good question @epmolitor.

I created this module for 2025 (for a 6 month reading) Chronological order using a Reading plan generator website. Steps taken are the following.
  1. setting my criteria (e.g. Start Jan 1, Days 180, Calendar, Chronological OT & NT, Days of week Sun-Sat)
  2. downloading the CSV
  3. creating a new SwordSearcher book module
  4. opening the CSV in a spreadsheet
  5. selecting all, then copying and pasting contents into the 1st chapter of my module
The days and auto links help me stay on top of everything, plus I saved the website to my phone, and I can keep track there as well.

Blessings!

@epmolitor, Seems like it should be possible to do something like this with the SwordSearcher Bible Reading Schedule, but I guess it would take a lot of tweaking. I would like to read through the Bible chronologically, but I'm not too keen on using a user book rather than the reading schedule. I like to have SwordSearcher play the Scourby audio while I read along. And I like that it keeps track of where I am in the schedule.

@Brandon Staggs, is there some relatively easy way to import the exported data from the chronological settings at https://biblereadingplangenerator.com/ into the SwordSearcher reading Schedule?

This was pretty easy actually. I created the default chronological plan on the website and saved it as a CSV. I opened the CSV in Excel and copied the column with the verse references, and saved that into a plain .txt file, then imported it into SwordSearcher using the plan manager.

I'm attaching exported plan templates for SwordSearcher. You can use these in the Plan Manager. One is half-year and one is full-year. Both plans have 100% coverage.

(To import one, go to Devotional menu, "Add New Reading Plan to Schedule", and then click "Import Template from File" and choose the file you download.)

The reason I have not pursued adding a native chronological plan in SwordSearcher is because there are subjective choices to be made in setting up a chronological order of verses. I am not entirely sure where I would get a list I was happy with provided as "the" chronological order.

@Brandon Staggs great instructions, I learned something new again with SwordSearcher! Quick question, for single chapter books like Obadiah, Philemon and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John, would we need to add the number "1" after each book name generated from the biblereadingplangenerator.com website for it to import correctly?
No, the import process with recognize the book properly without specifying the chapter.
